UoN to strengthen Ties with the University of Gothenburg

The University of Nairobi and Sweden’s University of Gothenburg have strengthened their relationship with new agreements to bolster research collaborations, students’ and staff exchanges.

Leading the talks on the partnerships, College of Humanities and Social Sciences Principal, Prof. Enos Njeru said the collaboration was a great opportunity for both universities to exchange ideas and address social, political and economic concerns affecting societies across the globe.

“The University of Nairobi is the oldest and biggest university in the region so benchmarking with best universities in the world not only enriches our experiences but also for our country, partner institutions and stakeholders.”  Professor Njeru said.

On her part, Ms. Catharina Milkin, Director International Office, University of Gothenburg said, “In strengthening the active partnership between the university of Nairobi and Gothenburg, we will increase the number of student and faculty exchanges as well as promote scholarly and research collaborations between our two institutions on a variety of international issues.”

Ms. Kajsa Wigren, International Coordinator, University of Gothenburg said, “Partnership with the University of Nairobi provides a wholesome, exciting and unique experience for our students.”

The team also held talks with CIPL Director Prof Oigara During their Visit to the University of Nairobi


A  Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities was formally signed in 2013 and has so far seen more than 10 students and staff exchanges in the Schools of Business, Economics and Law.
