Disability Mainstreaming Committee

The Terms of Reference for the Committee are:

  1. To establish structures that will ensure that service points in the College are environmentally friendly for persons with special needs.
  2. To sensitise and train staff on service provision to persons with disabilities.
  3. To come up with strategies on implementation of the University’s policy on persons with disabilities at the College level.
  4. Co-opt any other members to the committee.

Gender Mainstreaming Committee

The terms of Reference for the Committee are:


i. Interpreting and domesticating the objectives of the UoN Gender Policy;
ii. Ensuring that information and action flow to and fro Departments, Faculties, Schools,
Institutes and other units within the University;
iii. Coordinating with Campus Based Gender Focal Points on relevant gender activities and issues;
iv. Providing quarterly reports on College gender activities and issues;
v. Compiling Annual report on gender mainstreaming activities and issues; and
vi. Other matters determined by the committee to be of relevance to gender mainstreaming
within the College in line with the UoN Gender Policy.

National Cohesion and National Values Committee

The terms of Reference for the committee are:


i. Adopt a framework for fostering national unity, inculcating patriotism, redressing
marginalization, and promotion of an accountable and democratic Kenyan society,
ii. In liaison with the University’s Corporate National Cohesion and National Values
Committee, conduct training and sensitization of at least 20% of the College’s staff and
students on cohesion and national values,
iii. Address existing and emerging security challenges by implementing biometric student
identification/registration system and issuing security alerts to staff and students, and
iv. Prepare and submit to the Vice Chancellor quarterly reports, which shall include
assessment of the promotion and practice of values, measure taken, progress achieved
and identification of any challenges encountered.

Research and Publications Commitee

The terms of Reference for the Committee are:
i. Preparation of College annual publications including but not limited to annual plans,
magazines and periodicals;
ii. Provide advice on publication matters in the College;
iii. Provide quarterly reports on the College publications status on academic publication
output, i.e. journals hosted within the College and staff publications;
iv. Any other activity that the committee may deem relevant; and
v. Any other duties that may be assigned to you by the College from time to time.

Resolution of Public Complaints Committee

The Mandate of the committee shall be:-
i. To receive, register, sort, classify and document all Complaints against the Centre.
ii. To inquire into allegations of misuse of Office, unethical conduct, breach of integrity,
maladministration, delay, injustice, discourtesy, inattention misbehavior, inefficiency or
ineptitude etc;
iii. To oversee, co-ordinate, monitor and follow up specific action on channeled Complaints;
iv. To promote alternative dispute resolution through mediation (frontline resolution);
v. To ascertain whether on the face of it, there is merit in a Compliant, and thereafter to act
on the Complaint appropriately or refer the Complaint for redress;
vi. To publish quarterly reports on the number and nature of Complaints received and the
action taken by the committee.
